AAPA was founded in 1972 and is the largest organization of
faculty, students, researchers, and practitioners interested in Asian American
psychology. Our members and initiatives have positively impacted psychological treatment,
education, training, research, policy and social justice advocacy, through
research dissemination, organizational policy statements and collaboration with
other psychological organizations for publications, training initiatives, and
disseminating resources for serving Asian American communities.
Expanding Our Horizons is my
Presidential Theme. My goal for AAPA is to become inclusive of all who are
interested in Asian American psychology
One
way to expand our horizons is to add new AAPA members. If you already are an
AAPA member, I encourage you to recruit new members. I have created a $500
prize for the person who recruits the most new members. You might also consider
sponsoring a new member by paying their dues. If you are not a member, you can
join AAPA at a reduced rate that is available to all new members.
You may wonder why you should be an
AAPA member? Some of the many benefits
of AAPA membership are:
The
professional and social support of the largest association of professionals
interested in Asian American psychology
Opportunities
and mentoring in national service and leadership in AAPA
The
Asian American Journal of Psychology,
the new official AAPA journal that showcases the best research in our field.
The
annual AAPA Convention, to which members receive reduced registration rates
ThenewOkura Mental Health Leadership Foundation Fellowship awarded by AAPA and
the American Psychological Foundation to AAPA members only.
